| New Zumtobel building provides space for innovative LED luminaires With the expansion of the lighting factory at its Dornbirn site, Zumtobel is creating more resources for the manufacture of LED products. The new hall is currently under construction and is due to go into operation by the start of 2014. The company is investing 20 million euros to build the new factory hall, with another million euros to be spent on manufacturing plant in the first phase. "With this highly flexible new building, we shall be optimally equipped for the future. The new facilities meet all the requirements of modern electronics production. We shall be able to satisfy the growing demand in the area of LED and have already created the right conditions to address future technological developments. LED products currently account for 30 per cent of output at the Dornbirn site. Our target is to increase that figure to over 50 per cent by 2016. The hall will provide the necessary capacity, " said Thomas Bischof, Global Operations Director at Zumtobel. The plant expansion covers a total area of 10,000 square metres, split into 2,000 square metres for office use and 8,000 square metres for production. The special feature of the hall is the large clear span roof which covers a width of 35 metres and the full 100-metre length of the hall. The absence of columns gives the space its high level of flexibility. An overhead crane system with a load capacity of 30 tonnes encompasses almost the entire area of the hall and can be used to transport loads such as when changing over the dies on injection-moulding machines. write your comments about the article :: © 2013 Construction News :: home page |
