fensterbau/frontale india 2013: India’s Fenestration Event of the Year

From 7th to 9th March, the Bombay Convention & Exhibition Centre in Mumbai transformed into a meeting place for the fenestration and facade industry: at fensterbau/frontale india, 73 exhibitors (2012: 69) from nine countries presented their latest products and technologies. The event which was held parallel to ACREX India for the third year in a row, was successful in presenting energy efficient building solutions to architects, planners and builders. With 5,642 highly qualified trade visitors (2012: 3,717), the number has increased by almost 50 % in comparison with the previous event. As in previous years, the exhibition was accompanied by a highly interesting conference programme, which offered international and Indian experts the opportunity to network and exchange their knowledge.

After a flying start in New Delhi and a successful second edition in Bangalore, the exhibition was held for the third time in Mumbai. As the economic and financial centre of India, the city, with over 18 million inhabitants, is one of the five largest megacities in the world – and growing. Owing to the increasing demand of the construction sector, themes such as sustainability and energy efficiency are becoming increasingly relevant.

Conference "Envelopes for Green Buildings"
With the continuous influx of people into the big cities, the construction boom will continue to grow – and so will the challenges. As in the previous years, the internationally renowned ift Rosenheim, Germany presented a three-day conference programme, in collaboration with the Indian experts from the International Fenestration Forum.
Over a course of six sessions, national and international specialists provided an outlook on the latest trends in science and market scenario. The topics of energy efficiency and quality were dealt with in depth. In addition to recent innovations and technical trends, the subject of the German energy turnaround was also discussed. A highlight of the programme was the special session with Prof. Werner Lang of the Technical University of Munich, who provided insight into the latest façade technologies. His session was followed by a panel discussion on the topic of "Facade Technologies for Future Oriented Buildings- Hope India & Challenges" featuring eminent personalities such as Ar. Ruchir Panwar (RSP Design Consultants ) Ar. Vivek Bhole ( Neo Modern Architects ), Ar. Nilabh Nagar ( Architect Hafeez Contractor), Ar. Prem Nath ( Prem Nath & Associates ), Ar. Sheetal Rakheja ( Design & Development ) and Mr. V. Suresh ( HIRCO). The panel discussion was moderated by Mr. Anthony John from Schueco and Mr. Ashish Rakheja from AECOM.
The second day of the conference programme also coincided with the International Women's Day. Prominent women from India's fenestration Industry were honoured for their contribution on this occasion. The recipients included Ms. Suhag Khemlani (Clean India Group), Ms. Sonali Bedre ( Alumayer India ), Ms. Zeba Anwar ( Milestone Aluminium ) and Ms. Sheetal Rakheja ( Design & Development ). The move was intended to encourage more women to be part of the growing facade and fenestration Industry in India as their resilience and attention to detail is of paramount importance for the growth of the industry. The accompanying workshop for local fabricators was an effort well appreciated by the Industry – as a great initiative – giving "knowledge" back to the Industry. The concept of taking fenestration to the grass root level is seen as crucial to bridge the knowledge gap and ensure installation of a high quality end product.

Exhibitors praise the exhibition concept
The exhibition provided the exhibiting companies with excellent business leads, networking opportunities and an insight into the growing Indian Market. 98 % were happy with the visitor numbers, 74 % rated the quality of the visitors as good or very good. 89 % were able to make new business contacts at this year's event and are expecting follow-up business. The excellent mood at the exhibition is further reinforced by the encouraging exhibitor statements:

Marc Hermann, Area Sales Manager at Rhenocoll Werk e.K:
"We were able to increase our exhibition contacts by 182 % in comparison to the previous year – we are very happy about that, of course. We were particularly pleased by the high demand for our PVC and aluminium coating products. Not just the quality of the visitors, but also the organisation by the employees of NürnbergMesse on-site is worthy of special praise!"

Satish Kumar, Director, Elumatec India Private Limited:
"Great show. The pre-show marketing activities throughout the year really paid off. We had more than 3000 people visiting our booth. The window workshop was a hit, and the conference on day two was good, with a very interesting panel discussion. Fensterbau/frontale india helped us to put our brand right at the top when it comes to complete manufacturing solutions for aluminium and UPVC profile processing."

Kushal K. Bajaj, Executive Director at Geeta Aluminium Company:
"The show was superb! All three days gave us a number of great, high-quality leads and visitors. Although I have exhibited many times before, this was my first time exhibiting with fensterbau/frontale india, and I must admit this has been the most promising show so far. It is very professionally run and I'm sure it has opened many people's eyes to a whole new sector that this industry needs to be supporting. Through fensterbau/frontale india, as has never been done before, we were able to train over 550 fabricators in an organized manner with our Geeta Support System initiative. In a nutshell – fensterbau/frontale india is what India needs; it's far more than just networking!"

Follow-up event 2014 in New Delhi
The organiser of the event, the NürnbergMesse Group, along with the supporting organisations, ift Rosenheim and the International Fenestration Forum, were happy with how the event turned out. The exhibition duo will go back at the start of next year – the next exhibition will take place in India's capital New Delhi, from 27th February to 1st March 2014, once again parallel to ACREX Indiawith the slogan "Back to the roots".
