Visionstream constructs cable network in New Zealand

German construction group Hochtief has secured a contract extension to continue construction of a broadband network in New Zealand: In the next six years, subsidiary Visionstream will deploy additional cable infrastructure in the greater Auckland region for the Ultra Fast Broadband (UFB) network of national telecommunication and data services provider Chorus. Visionstream has been working for the large-scale projects-scheduled for a total period of eight year-for some time already. The contract extension is worth over USD 423.5 million (approximately EUR 323.3 million) and belongs to the strategic area "social and urban infrastructure".

In the important business region Auckland, Visionstream is the number one provider of construction services related to telecommunication and data networks. In addition, the company is responsible for the Rural Broadband Initiative (RBI) which is planned to supply the north of New Zealand with modern data lines.
