| Natural stone expertise – communication platform at Stone+tec 2013 The Deutscher Naturwerkstein-Verband e.V. (DNV – German Natural Stone Association) and the Berufsgenossenschaft Rohstoffe und chemische Industrie (BG RCI – Trade Association for Raw Materials and Chemical Industry) are represented for the second time in a pavilion at the Stone+tec exhibition for natural stone in Nürnberg from 29 May to 1 June 2013. Under the motto of "natural stone expertise", DNV and BG RCI are planning a pavilion that together with 8 producers of local natural stone shows natural stone's unique properties as a sustainable building material. The aim of the joint presence is to strengthen the German natural stone industry and provide knowledge about natural stone with the aid of a common communication platform. There are some exceptional highlights in the pavilion: the presentation of the German Natural Stone Award 2013 on 29.5.2013 and the show of the winning works, DNV's collection of more than 220 German natural stones, various exhibits from BG RCI that illustrate safety in stone processing and storage, and a product show by many of Germany's natural stone companies. Daily interactive presentations give exhibition visitors an insight into a wide range of segments in the natural stone industry. In addition to the topics "Life cycle assessments of natural stone facades" and "Using natural stone without damage", the programme will include presentations on the safe use of nanotechnology, the economic and safe storage of natural stone, natural stone tests and CE markings. BG RCI and DNV will announce the complete programme shortly. The pavilion location is stand 1-303 in hall 1 of the Nürnberg exhibition centre. Natural stone you can feel The Deutscher Natursteinverband presents the variety of local stones in its collection of more than 220 German natural stones. Eight of the largest producers of local natural stone are also present as co-exhibitors and show their products and services for floors, facades, stairs, gardens and landscapes. TÜV Rheinland LGA Bautechnik is available as a competent partner for natural stone tests and CE markings, and Sandvik Mining as world-leading supplier of products and services for mining and the building industry. Health & Environment Whether sandstone, limestone or granite, Germany's range of stone is surprisingly varied and its extraction is safe for man and the environment. BG RCI as statutory accident insurer for the natural stone industry illustrates this with exhibits for employee safety. A practical area protection system for an automatic stone processing machine, for example, shows how safety in the workplace is implemented in practice. BG RCI also presents its new exhibit for safe storage of natural stone slabs, because serious and fatal accidents have unfortunately constantly occurred in this area in the past years. Natural Stone & Architecture The Deutscher Naturwerkstein-Verband e.V. (DNV) presents the winner of the German Natural Stone Award 2013 and a further 14 nominated works in a separate area of the stand. This exhibition shows ecologically and technically outstanding natural stone architecture in Germany and Europe. The presentation of the German Natural Stone Award 2013 also takes place on the exhibition stand of DNV and BG RCI at Stone+tec at 15:00 on 29 May. Sustainability & Engineering DNV presents the sustainability study on "Life cycle assessments of various natural stone and glass facades" conducted by the noted institute PE International. This compares the life cycle assessments of natural stone and glass facades in ecological and economic terms. Exhibition visitors can also view DNV's "Information on Building with Natural Stone" and buy this at favourable terms at the exhibition. Particularly the newly published Building Information BTI 1.5 Rear-ventilated natural stone facades, which is based on the DIN EN 18516-3 standard for facades published in November 2011, is of great interest for natural stone experts and architects. write your comments about the article :: © 2013 Construction News :: home page |
