Arcadis to perform project services for Rio 2016 Olympic Games

Dutch design giant Arcadis announced that its Brazilian subsidiary, Arcadis Logos, as part of a consortium, was selected by RioUrbe and Empresa Olímpica Municipal (EOM) to perform project and construction management services for the implementation of the Olympic Park and Village for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The project is part of a series of infrastructure projects that Rio de Janeiro is conducting to successfully host such a major sporting event for the first time in South America.

The project comprises 75 hectares of Olympic Village including a total of 34 competition venues. These include tennis courts, swimming pools and a velodrome. The project also requires development of support facilities such as an energy center and a sewage treatment plant. Leisure and meeting areas such as the Diversity, Beauty, Sustainability, Health and Environment Villages, a waterside park and a commercial and educational center are also to be realized.

Up to early 2016, when the work will be finalized, Arcadis Logos will provide time and cost planning, technical support, construction supervision and quality control, among other services. At the peak of construction activities - to be reached in mid-2013 - 60 professionals from the consortium team will be active at the jobsite.
