| Arup wins contract for phase two of Ashgabat Olympic Complex UK engineering giant Arup has signed the contract for phase two of the Ashgabat Olympic complex (AOC), which will add an aquatics centre, indoor athletics arena and a tennis centre. The AOC in Turkmenistan's capital city, is one of the largest building projects on which Arup have delivered 'total' design and includes 750,000m2 of sports and social buildings. Venues include a velodrome, arenas, training halls, hotels, offices, a medical centre and media facilities. The Olympic village is expected to have a significant position in the world sports community and the Central Asian sports community. Ashgabat had already been awarded the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in 2017, and this has now become a key focus of the project.
