Parsons–Odebrecht projects at Miami Airport earn safety awards

The Parsons–Odebrecht Joint Venture (POJV) announced that the MIA Mover, Miami International Airport's (MIA's) Automated People Mover (APM) system, has achieved national recognition from Engineering News-Record, earning the magazine's inaugural "Best of the Best" award for project safety. POJV is also announced that the North Terminal Development (NTD) program at MIA has earned the National Safety Council's (NSC's) "Perfect Record Award" for working from 2011 to 2012 (500,000 work hours) without a recordable injury resulting in lost time.

The POJV team has successfully managed and constructed more than $2.2 billion worth of work at MIA over the past decade. Currently, the JV serves as the general management contractor at-risk on the NTD program, which is more than 1 mile long and has added a new four-story-tall terminal that operates 50 dual gates to support both international and domestic passengers, a 400,000-ft² federal inspection services area, and an APM that is capable of transporting 9,000 passengers per hour. Before that, the team constructed the 1.25-mile-long MIA Mover guideway and stations and, though a subcontract, installed the full turnkey operating system, including eight state-of-the-art Crystal Mover APM vehicles. POJV also previously served as the construction manager at-risk for MIA's South Terminal Expansion program.
