| Hochtief consortium builds section of Amsterdam-Almere highway link The Dutch government has awarded a contract to the "SAAone" consortium to build, upgrade and later operate an important section of the highway between Amsterdam and Almere. The consortium will plan, finance and build a section of the A1 and a section of the connecting A6 on the basis of a public-private partnership (PPP) and will subsequently operate these sections for 25 years. Hochtief Solutions has a 20 percent shareholding in the consortium through its subsidiaries, and a 35 percent stake in the construction joint venture. The project has a total volume of over one billion euros and is a further important contract in the area of transportation infrastructure. This 20-kilometer stretch of road is part of one of the most important highway spur routes to the Dutch capital Amsterdam. The consortium around Hochtief will now widen the A1/A6 sections (junction Muiderberg - Hollandse Brug) to 2 x 5 lines plus 2 reversible lanes, widen the A6 section (Hollandse Bridge - Exit Almere Havendreef) to 2 x 4 lanes plus 2 reversible lanes, and build two complex bridge structures, an aqueduct and a railway bridge. Hochtief's partners in this PPP infrastructure project are the Dutch construction companies Boskalis and VolkerWessels, and the institutional investor Dutch Infrastructure Fund. Financial close is expected to be reached in February 2013. write your comments about the article :: © 2012 Construction News :: home page |
