| Her Majesty The Queen officially opens the new Jubilee Gardens Her Majesty The Queen has officially opened the Jubilee Gardens on London's South Bank, marking the completion of a £5million scheme to revitalise a featureless green space in the heart of London. Davis Langdon, an AECOM company, has been involved with the project for over 15 years, providing cost and project management and employers' agent services, and helping to transform this patch of grass into a beautifully landscaped urban park with new flowerbeds, curved granite pathways and a brand new playground. Davis Langdon worked closely with Dutch landscape architects West 8, Frosts Landscape Construction Ltd and the Jubilee Gardens Project Board comprising Lambeth Council, Southbank Centre, the Jubilee Gardens Trust and Transport for London to deliver a successful scheme on time and on budget. To celebrate the official opening, Her Majesty unveiled a plaque commemorating her 2012 visit alongside a plaque that was unveiled in 1977 when the garden was first created in honour of the Queen's Silver Jubilee. During the visit, Her Majesty was introduced to Davis Langdon's Jo Streeten, head of project management, senior project manager George Parker and cost management expert Alison Brennan. The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson described Jubilee Gardens as "an oasis for local residents, workers and tourists", which will help attract investment into an area that is a regeneration priority for the capital. write your comments about the article :: © 2012 Construction News :: home page |
