Skanska divests three hospitals in UK

Swedish construction firm Skanska has sold its investment in three hospitals in the Midlands, UK, to co-investor Innisfree for about GBP 66M, about SEK 715 M. The transaction will be recorded in the third quarter of 2012.

The three PPP (Private Public Partnership) hospitals are, University Hospital Coventry, Royal Derby Hospital and the Sherwood Forest Hospitals. Skanska was responsible for the successful design and construction of the hospitals and operations at the facilities commenced in June 2007, December 2008 and March 2011 respectively, providing world-class facilities for clinical staff and hundreds of thousands patients each year across the communities they serve.

Under a separate contract, Skanska UK is also responsible for the Hard Facility Management Services at Royal Derby Hospital and the Sherwood Forest Hospitals. The announcement relates to Skanska's equity interests in these hospitals only. Skanska will continue to deliver the Hard Facility Management services at Royal Derby Hospital and Sherwood Forest Hospitals.

Skanska Infrastructure Development is a leader in the global Public Private Partnerships (PPP) market. The business unit invests in, develops and operates roads, hospitals, schools, power plants and other social infrastructure in partnership with the public sector.
