| Schindler builds new escalator plant in India Schindler will be the first global elevator and escalator company to set up a greenfield manufacturing facility for the production of escalators for the Indian market. The facility, located near Pune, is scheduled to go into operation in early 2014. The multi-million euro plant is to be built on a new 160,000-m2 site in the Chakan Industrial Estate outside Pune.
