| Sacyr awarded integral mobility contracts in Spain Spanish construction giant Sacyr, by way of its subsidiary Valoriza Servicios Medioambientales, has been awarded the first ever integral mobility contracts in Spain, specifically in the Madrid municipalities of Valdemoro and Galapagar, for a total sum of 50 million euros. In Galapagar, the Sacyr subsidiary will render the vehicle parking management service (S.E.R.), encompassing a towing service, the installation of supplementary sanction-related elements for improved road safety (speed-control points), technical assistance, and collaboration in the recovery of fines deriving from S.E.R. and sanctions generated by traffic infractions. The contract runs for ten years and is worth 9 million euros. In the municipality of Valdemoro, Valoriza will undertake the regulated parking service (S.E.R.): towing service and sanction management. This contract runs for 25 years and is worth 41 million euros. Both contracts are of recent introduction and will employ the latest equipment and communication technology. Furthermore, the rendering of these services, aimed at improving road safety and mobility, does not entail any investment or extra costs for local councils and will also create employment. In the case of Galapagar, the service will not employ conventional printed cards for the management of resident cards. Instead, it will employ a system developed by the Technology and Development Division of Valoriza Servicios Medioambientales, which involves RFID tags that can be scanned by smartphone using NFC technology. This system allows resident cards to be validated automatically without the need for the controller to type out the vehicle's registration number, thereby making it easier to check whether the card is up to date with payments and whether the vehicle is parked in the correct area as enabled by the card. Furthermore, Valoriza has offered an improved mobile-phone based payment system allowing users to pay for regulated parking quickly and easily without having to find a parking meter. Instead, they can simply send a short message from their mobile phones. These new contracts enable Valoriza Servicios Medioambientales to strengthen its urban mobility business through the management of over 5,000 parking spaces, which is in addition to the 55,000 spaces that it currently manages, most notably in areas I and VI of Madrid. write your comments about the article :: © 2012 Construction News :: home page |
