| Ramboll lands Copenhagen Metro project Ramboll, in a joint venture with Arup and with architectural firm Cobe as sub-consultant, recently won the role as planning advisor for the Nordhavn Metro extension in central Copenhagen – a new branch line with two new stations: Nordhavn and Orientkaj. The Metro forms a key element of the infrastructure for the capital's new major urban development initiative in the Nordhavn district. The scheme gives Ramboll the opportunity to make a major impact on the area where we have already been selected as the consulting engineers for urban masterplanning and the new Nordhavnsvej road link. The winning project team's work scope includes the design of tunnels, rail systems as well as an tunnel station (Nordhavn) and an above ground station (Orientkaj). The project, which will be carried out in collaboration with Ramboll's rail division, will draw on multidisciplinary expertise from across the company. The client is Metroselskabet, a partnership owned jointly by the City of Copenhagen (50%), the Danish Government (41.7%) and the City of Frederiksberg (8.3%). Initial work on the Nordhavn line has just begun and the first metro trains are expected to start operating in 2019.
