| Energy CEO elected Fellow of Royal Academy of Engineering Martin Grant, CEO of Atkins' energy business, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in recognition of his "outstanding contribution to the energy sector". Election to the Academy is by invitation only, with no more than 60 Fellows elected each year from nominations made by existing Fellows. Martin will be distinguished by the title 'Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering' and the designation 'FREng'. Martin is an expert in safety and integrity management in high-hazard industries and has made a particular contribution to the energy sector. He joined Atkins in 1984 and his career has covered work in the oil and gas, nuclear, power, renewables, chemical and defence industries as well as an assignment to the Channel Tunnel project. He received a Royal Academy of Engineering Silver Medal in 1998 for his achievements in innovation and industry, particularly his development of concept risk assessment methodology to evaluate safety risks on projects. The Fellowship is a very prestigious honour as it provides the leadership and expertise for the Academy's activities. The Academy promotes excellence in science, art and the practice of engineering. It aims to enhance the UK's engineering capabilities, to celebrate excellence and inspire the next generation, and to lead debate by guiding informed thinking and influencing public policy. write your comments about the article :: © 2012 Construction News :: home page |
