| Ferrovial is short-listed in BITC corporate responsibility awards Ferrovial's Social Infrastructure program has been short-listed by Business in the Community in the Awards for Excellence international category. The panel of assessors underlined the combination of funding, resources and expertise in the projects implemented under the program. The Awards for Excellence are the most influential and widely acknowledged UK distinctions in the area of corporate responsibility. Ferrovial's Social Infrastructure program has been short-listed in the international category of the Awards for Excellence, granted by Business in the Community (BITC). The assessors for these awards, which are the most influential and widely-acknowledged in the UK in the area of corporate responsibility, highlighted Ferrovial's use of instruments to measure and evaluate projects' impact as well as its combined use of funding, resources and know-how. According to the Awards for Excellence assessors: "This is an excellent program with key performance indicators (KPIs) which yield rigorous results and which reflect the company's expertise. These qualities clearly demonstrate the connection between the business strategy and the corporate responsibility programs." Ferrovial's Social Infrastructure program seeks to palliate the imbalances and lack of water and sewage infrastructure in vulnerable communities in rural and urban areas of Latin America and Africa. The company not only provides funding, but also technical and technological assistance and expertise in infrastructure development: company volunteers contribute their experience and knowledge by advising NGOs, both on site and from Ferrovial's offices. Peru and Tanzania As part of the Social Infrastructure program, Ferrovial is currently working in Peru, with Plan España, to develop a drinking water and sewage system in four communities of the Cajamarca region. This project will ensure direct access to basic drinking water and sewage systems for 2,225 people and indirect access for 26,000. In Tanzania, Ferrovial has teamed up with ONGAWA to establish sustainable water supply systems in Kata de Maore, in Same district of northern Tanzania. Business in the Community Business in the Community (BITC) is a business-led not-for-profit organization which promotes responsible business practices. It is the largest and one of the oldest coalitions of companies in the UK dedicated to corporate responsibility.
