| Davis Langdon celebrates launch of the South Bank's Jubilee Gardens Global construction and property consultancy Davis Langdon, an Aecom company, is celebrating the completion of the transformation of Jubilee Gardens on London's South Bank. Davis Langdon has been involved with the £5 million regeneration project for over 15 years, providing cost management and employers' agent services. Working closely with the designers, Dutch landscape architects West 8, Frosts Landscape Construction Ltd and the Jubilee Gardens Project Board comprising Lambeth Council, Southbank Centre, the Jubilee Gardens Trust and Transport for London, Davis Langdon has helped ensure the successful completion of the project on time and on budget for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The contract was jointly managed by South Bank Employers' Group and the Council. Dull and uninspiring gardens have been transformed into a well-designed urban park with extensive soft and hard landscaping features such as soft berms, lush planting, plentiful trees and curved granite pathways which incorporate seating, as well as a new playground. The original 13,700 square meter site was a central feature of the Festival of Britain in 1951 and in 1977 the gardens were developed to commemorate the Queen's Silver Jubilee. write your comments about the article :: © 2012 Construction News :: home page |
