| Vinci delivers the Cité du Cinéma, a new French centre dedicated to the “Seventh Art” Vinci Immobilier has delivered the Cité du Cinéma, a new centre conceived by Luc Besson and dedicated to the "Seventh Art". Covering all aspects of the French film industry, this complex of 62,000 m2 will, among other things, have 9 film studios, workshops for building film sets, training areas for the Ecole Nationale Supérieure Louis Lumière, a film theatre, an arcade, space for the service sector as well as communal services, shops and a restaurant. The idea behind this cinematographic complex is to provide France, Europe's leading film producer, with state-of-the-art facilities on a par with those of the Hollywood studios in the United States or of Cinecitta in Italy. Located on a former power station site in Seine-Saint-Denis, just outside of Paris, the Cité du Cinéma has successfully managed to integrate modern buildings while retaining the roots of the site's industrial past. The work required all of Vinci's know-how – property development, site remediation and the construction of new buildings, film sets and technical installations. The project was managed by Vinci Immobilier in partnership with the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, in synergy with the Vinci Group's construction companies and in collaboration with the architectural firm Reichen et Robert & Associés, who specialise in the reconversion of industrial buildings. write your comments about the article :: © 2012 Construction News :: home page |
