Strabag subsidiary to build campus for Hamm-Lippstadt University

Although the new Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences began operations in the cities of Hamm and Lippstadt in North-Rhine Westphalia in 2009, it has so far been operating not in its own buildings, but in temporary makeshift premises. This will change in 2014: Bau- und Liegenschaftsbetrieb NRW Soest has commissioned Strabag subsidiary Ed. Züblin AG to realise all of the Hamm Campus and part of the Lippstadt Campus. The projects, with a total value of about € 100 million, will be carried out by Züblin's Dortmund, Bonn and Saxony divisions.

The construction works involve, besides the turnkey construction of lecture halls, laboratories, administration buildings and dining halls, all exterior facilities and the execution planning. The three-to-four-storey buildings at both locations will for the most part be realised as steel-and-concrete structures with facing brick façades and aluminium ribbon windows. An important component of both parts of the contract is the entire building service engineering, including state-of-the-art laboratories for the mathematics, computer sciences, natural sciences and engineering focused university.

Within the planned construction time of 20 months, a total of around 38,000 m² of gross floor area will be built at the Hamm Campus and about 21,000 m² at Lippstadt. The two campuses will then offer enough places for about 2,500 students.
