| VpCI 649 offers long term, multimetal corrosion protection Cortec presents VpCI 649, a unique, biodegradable, concentrated liquid formulation that offers long term, multimetal corrosion protection in fresh water and steam and glycol closed loop systems. VpCI 649 is effective and environmentally safe replacement for hazardous nitrite/bromate/chromate-based formulations. It combines contact and volatile corrosion inhibitors along with anti-scalants in non-toxic formulation that does not contain any heavy metals. Low concentration effectiveness of the product provides economical treatment and vapor phase action enables protection to areas that contact inhibitors cannot reach. VpCI 649 is water soluble, easy to apply and contains an acrylic polymer to prevent scale formation. It is highly effective for a broad range of applications such as; district heating systems, central cooling and heating systems like airports and other large gathering facilities, truck diesel engines, off road and agricultural machinery, mining, pulp and paper process equipment. The product can also be used for preventing water-bottom corrosion in oil storage tanks, fire extinguishing systems, hydrostatic testing of pipelines, casings, tanks, valves and many more. VpCI 649 has demonstrated it's excellent performance when it was chosen for protection of the boilers on Royal Navy ships. The Auxiliary boilers of United Kingdom's Royal Navy ships (T22 Frigates and T42 Destroyers) had problems with premature coil failure due to corrosion and VpCI 649 was selected for restoration. At the end of the treatment, no deterioration was evident in the treated starboard boiler. In addition the water holding tank had also been protected, which would improve the through life of the hotwell incurring even greater savings. All T22 Frigates and T42 Destroyers are now treated with VpCI 649. The product is available in liquid and powder version that also contains a blend of organic based scale inhibitors, which prevent scale formation in pipes and towers, and in cold weather version for the convenience of storage in cold temperatures. VpCI-649 conforms to NACE Standard RP 0487-2000. write your comments about the article :: © 2012 Construction News :: home page |
