| Impregilo awarded the third maxi-lot of the Jonica State Highway Italy's biggest builder Impregilo – in association with Rome-based Astaldi – has been awarded the contract tendered by ANAS, the Italian highways authority, for a general contractor to handle construction work on the third maxi-lot of the Jonica state highway (the SS-106). The new contract is worth approximately 791 million euro (with the Impregilo share accounting for 40%). The new road will be 38.0 kilometres long, from the junction with state highway 534 (SS-534) to Roseto Capo Spulico (Cosenza). The main works in the project include construction of approximately 13.0 km of tunnels, approximately 5.0 km of viaducts and 20.0 km of embankments. The total project schedule is approximately 7 years and 8 months, including fifteen months of definitive and executive project engineering and construction start-up, and the remaining 6 years and 5 months for actual construction work. The award of the new contract – together with the construction work on the two main maxi-lots (lots 5 and 6) of the Salerno-Reggio Calabria motorway from Gioia Tauro to Campo Calabro, which will be completed within the next 18 months – confirms Impregilo's commitment to investing resources and competences to create growth in southern Italy through the construction of efficient new infrastructure. write your comments about the article :: © 2012 Construction News :: home page |
