| Schindler to supply large urban development in Chengdu, China Swiss elevator and escalator maker Schindler has won a contract to supply 126 elevators and escalators for a multi-purpose complex in Chengdu, the capital city of China's Sichuan province. The complex, located in the city center, includes an office building, a 5-star hotel, two high-rise apartment blocks and shopping center. Schindler won the contract from Evergo Industrial Enterprise Ltd., a subsidiary of the Chinese Estates Group. The company is a leading Hong Kong property developer and is increasing its activities in mainland China. PORT Technology Schindler is to supply 76 elevators, 43 of which are high-rise installations, as well as 50 escalators. In addition, the office building is to be equipped with Schindler's PORT Technology, a state-of-the-art traffic management and access-control system that identifies building occupants and calculates the swiftest route to their destination. The order for the 43 high-rise elevators was booked in the 3rd quarter of 2011.
