Tikkurila starts efficiency improvement program

Finnish paint maker Tikkurila decided upon a revised strategy for Tikkurila Group in October. Tikkurila's strategic intent is to be the leading provider of paint-related architectural solutions for consumers and professionals in the Nordic area as well as in Russia and other selected Eastern European countries.

In order to secure the competitiveness in an uncertain and quickly changing market environment, Tikkurila has decided to start a group-wide program aiming at more flexible organization and cost structure, as well as at streamlining all operations. According to the plan, the organization structure will be revised, areas of responsibilities clarified and ways of operating changed. In addition, the roles of different production facilities will be reconsidered and reorganized where applicable.

As part of the planned program, Tikkurila will start co-operation negotiations in Finland. The negotiations will affect all personnel groups and functions of Tikkurila Oyj. According to the company's preliminary estimation, the reduction need is approximately 100 employees at the most. Tikkurila has all in all some 3,700 employees, of which about 750 work in Finland.

Measures to improve efficiency and facilitate structural change will be initiated in all Tikkurila locations and business units during the next few months.
