Bilfinger Berger commissions highway in Canada

German builder Bilfinger Berger has completed an important PPP roads project in Canada and will now operate and maintain the Northwest section of the Edmonton Ring Road for a period of 30 years. With an investment volume of approximately €750 million it is the largest public private partnership to date in the Canadian province of Alberta and the project has also received an award as "North American PPP Deal of the Year". Bilfinger Berger Project Investments is responsible for design, financing, construction and operation of the 21-kilometer long section of the highway to the northwest of the provincial capital with up to six lanes, 27 bridges and ten interchanges.

In Canada, Bilfinger Berger has already built and currently operates highways, bridges and hospitals with an investment volume of more than €2.5 billion. Other key PPP markets for the Group include Australia, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. Activities are focused on road projects as well as social infrastructure such as schools, hospitals, prisons and administrative buildings. Just recently, Bilfinger Berger completed a 20-kilometer section of the M80 motorway in Scotland and the company will also be responsible for operating the thoroughfare for 30 years.
