SNC-Lavalin awarded major project in Alberta

SNC-Lavalin, a large Canadian engineering firm, has been awarded a major contract by a major oil sands mining producer to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for a froth treatment plant in the Fort McMurray region. The value of the contract is in excess of $650 million.

The froth treatment plant will process 155,000 barrels of feedstock per day from the bitumen extraction plant in the form of bitumen froth.

The engineering phase is now underway and construction is scheduled to begin in February 2012. Mechanical completion for the construction is expected in September 2014.
