| Cimpor receives CEGEP Award for Excellence Portuguese cement company Cimpor was awarded the trophy for Excellence of the Circle of Spanish and Portuguese Businesspeople and Managers (CEGEP) which recognises the Portuguese-owned Spanish companies that most contributed to generating wealth in Spain in 2010. The choice of the three winning companies was made after analysing economic and financial data for 2010 of the largest Portuguese-owned companies, based on criteria such as added value, return on equity, productivity, job creation, financial autonomy and turnover growth. Cimpor particularly distinguished itself in terms of productivity and added value, both of which are indicators that demonstrate excellence in management and the company's contribution to the country's economy. The Circle of Spanish and Portuguese Businesspeople and Managers is a non-profit organisation with the aim of promoting relations between Spain and Portugal. With a notable presence in the world market, Cimpor is a cement manufacturing group with its headquarters and decision centre in Portugal. It now operates in 12 countries – Portugal, Spain, Cape Verde, Brazil, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, turkey, South Africa, Mozambique, India and China – where it has 26 cement plants with a total production capacity of 36 million tons of cement per year and employs 8,493 people of 31 different nationalities.
