| Fire resistant glass from EI class The main feature of fire resistant glass is that it provides both fire protection and smoke, and thermal insulation to the outbreak. Fire resistant glass from EI class is a laminated glass with 2 or more tempered glasses with a inner clear gel that reacts to a certain temperature. When the temperature is rising and the thermal peak is reached, the inner gel reacts like a protective solid shield stopping the thermal radiation from geting through the glass. The level of protection increases with the number of gel layers between the sheets. It is resistant to moisture due to perimeter's seal, with different thicknesses depending on desired level of protection. It is available in maximum size 3500 x 2200 mm and can have thicknesses of 16mm for EI30, EI90, 36 mm for EI90 and 58mm for EI120. Applications of this type of glass are being used in various projects, where fire protection is required for emergency exits, escape routes, fire doors, corridors, partitions, facades, etc. Due to thermo-reactive gel solidification, the fire resistant glass can be used as fire protection glass floor. write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Construction News :: home page |
