| Leighton connects metropolis Hong Kong to mainland China Hochtief subsidiary Leighton will construct the new terminus station for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link for EUR 890.3 million (AUD 1.2 billion). The mostly underground Express Rail Link will serve as the international gateway from the metropolis of Hong Kong to China after completion in 2015. The works will begin before the end of this month and will be carried out together with a partner. The Hochtief subsidiary's share is 50 percent. The Express Rail Link is a one-in-a-century project and will transport up to 100,000 passengers a day upon completion. Last year, Leighton Asia already secured two contracts for this link for a combined total of EUR 598 million. Now the third contract has been added: Centrally in Kowloon, the company together with a partner will construct a station including more than 15 platforms, customs and immigration facilities, departure lounges, duty free shops and pedestrian bridges. The Express Rail Link is one of Hong Kong's major projects for the future. write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Construction News :: home page |
