| ThyssenKrupp Elevator wins two new airport contracts ThyssenKrupp Elevator, a division of Germany's largest steelmaker ThyssenKrupp AG, has won a contract to supply a total of 77 passenger boarding bridges, 98 escalators and 34 moving walks for the new Kunming Changshui International Airport in China. Scheduled to open in early 2012, the airport will serve as a major hub between South Asia and Europe. The 550,000 square meter terminal will be able to handle up to 38 million passengers a year, making Kunming the country's fourth largest airport – after Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai – and there are plans in place to double its capacity. The passenger boarding bridges from ThyssenKrupp Elevator will help ensure everything runs smoothly. Their freedom of movement in three axes permits flexible docking with different aircraft types. ThyssenKrupp Elevator is supplying 39 elevators, 20 escalators, 16 moving walks and 33 passenger boarding bridges for a new terminal at Bogota Eldorado International Airport in Colombia. The country's largest airport is also one of the busiest in Latin America and is currently operating at its capacity limit with more than 18 million passengers per year. The new terminal for national and international flights, scheduled for completion in 2014, will help ease the situation. write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Construction News :: home page |
