| Team NY's Solar Roofpod headed to competition in Washington, DC  In a ceremony in New York City, students from The City College of New York celebrated the completion of their "Solar Roofpod." The project will be competing in the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon in Washington, DC in October.According to Jorge Franco, Superintendent for the Madison Square Garden project, the students worked with construction company sponsors to devise the idea of a Solar Roofpod. "Because real estate in New York is a premium, the students decided to build energy-efficient housing pods that can placed on top of the buildings – the construction teams helped make their visions a reality." Turner and its subcontractors volunteered their time and materials to build the house that will be one of 20 participating in this international competition. Five Star Electric and WDF, Inc. donated all of the plumbing, HVAC and electric material to build the house, as well as significant engineering and installation labor to assist in construction. The Solar Decathlon provides participating students with unique training that prepares them to enter our nation's clean-energy workforce.
