| Floor-slab formwork panel with integrated corner shock absorbers Recognisable by its distinctive blue edge protector, the Dokadur floor-slab formwork panel has been improved by Doka yet again. Its successor product is the ProFrame panel – also rentable, and in addition to its edge protector (now coloured grey) now also featuring specially designed shock absorbers at the corners. ProFrame panels are premium 3-ply formwork sheets made of spruce, for a uniform, slightly wood-structured concrete finish. They feature boil-proof and weatherproof bonding and ultimate format and angle accuracy, and are built in every regard to deliver long service life and high numbers of re-use cycles. This is why ProFrame panels, unlike many other formwork sheets, are also available for rental. Compared to purchasing formwork sheets, this provides greater flexibility by tying up less capital and because of the easier materials-scheduling made possible by their high availability from the Doka rental park. Because clients can supplement their own equipment with rented panels at any time, they can easily cover any spikes in demand. Thanks to its shock-absorbing effect, the newly developed all-round edge protector made of grey thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) provides superb resistance to impact and breakage. According to the manufacturer, neither weathering nor use cause any mechanical or visual change in the plastic edge-surround. The rentable ProFrame panels will supersede the (also rentable) Dokadur panels. At the corners of the sheet, the edge protector has been given a special shape to protect these sensitive points with a reinforced shock-absorbing effect. In addition, the plastic edge-surround is slightly raised at the corners, so as to anticipate the natural shrink/swell behaviour of the timber. This always results in a readily trowelable negative impression in the concrete surface in the joint-zone – even after forming with used, slightly swollen sheets. There is thus no longer any need for costly finishing-work to eliminate positive impressions in the concrete. As with the Dokadur panel before it, the TPU edge protector makes for easier cleaning, as well as resulting in fewer drip-runs because the contact surfaces at the joints abut more tightly. ProFrame panels also come with an abrasion-resistant corundum coating, as used for over 10 years on their predecessor product with excellent results. Here, a specially developed low-solvent PU varnish sealant forms an extra protective layer on the surface of the sheet, which has been pre-treated in the usual way with urea melamine resin adhesive. The sealing-layer reduces the exchange of moisture and the resultant cracking in the sheets. Added as an extra anti-wear layer, the corundum particles enhance abrasion resistance and slide-off protection. For individual identification, ProFrame panels can be labelled ex-works with e.g. the name of the client's company. Doka floor-slab formwork panels ProFrame are now available in 200/50 cm and 250/50 cm formats for purchase, and also for rental from Doka's extensive rental park. write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Construction News :: home page |
