Ferrovial receives Green Mobility award from Madrid City

Ferrovial was presented with the Green Mobility (Muévete Verde) award in the category of "General Mobility Plans" by Ana Botella, Madrid City Alderman with responsibility for the Environment and Mobility and Chair of the Madrid mass transit company EMT, in recognition of its good practices in favor of sustainable mobility in the city.

The company's mobility plan covers its employees, vehicle fleets, business trips and subcontractors, as well as the users of its infrastructures (toll roads and airports).

To ensure the plan's success, the company surveyed employees about their mobility patterns in order to ascertain the factors that encourage or prevent the use of alternative means of transport which would enhance the company's mobility: carpooling, cycling, public transport and motorbikes (whose CO2/km factor in kg. is half that of a car). It also drafted a Mobility Plan guide with indicators to measure the efficiency of the measures that are adopted, in both economic and carbon footprint terms.

The company's first mobility plan was launched in Cespa in 2008 and it is currently being rolled out at Ferrovial's central offices and those of Ferrovial Agroman, to be followed by roll-out at all the company's premises in Spain.

The next step will be to launch a carpooling campaign with the assistance of Madrid City's "deeab.com" website, which connects people with similar mobility patterns so that they can pool their cars and save time and money while reducing emissions. Ferrovial will offer parking spaces for employees who carpool.
