High-performance mono module with world record cell technology

Next year, SCHOTT Solar AG will be expanding its portfolio to include a new high-performance solar module that combines impressive performance with attractive appearance. The new SCHOTT PERFORM MONO is based on a unique new cell technology that enables record-level performances: the world's first six-inch solar cells with 20.2 percent efficiency. The SCHOTT PERFORM MONO includes performance classes of up to 280 Watt peak and is scheduled to hit the market in Europe during the second quarter of 2012. This module is of particular interest for the Italian market due to the fact that it will meet the requirements that apply to the higher feed-in tariff there. The new, top-of-the-line product from SCHOTT Solar will be unveiled for the first time ever at the EU PVSEC in Hamburg from September 5 to 9, 2011.

Here, an overview of the preliminary technical data on the SCHOTT PERFORM MONO:

- Cell type: 60 monocrystalline cells, 156 x 156 mm
- Front panel: low-iron 3.2 mm solar glass
- Backside panel: foil
- Performance classes: up to 280 Wp
- Cell efficiency: approx. 20 percent
- Weight: approx. 20 kg
- Frame: 50 mm, black

And still, it isn't only the values contained in the product datasheet that are likely to attract attention, but also the attractive look of the SCHOTT PERFORM MONO. It looks extremely elegant, thanks to its dark mono cells in combination with a black frame. Furthermore, its high resistance to weathering when exposed to wind, storms, ice and snow (tested for pressure and suction loads of 5,400 Pascal based on the IEC standard) clearly translates into reliable performance on top of the roof for many years to come. As with all its glass-film modules, SCHOTT Solar will be offering a 25-year linear performance guarantee.

"The new SCHOTT PERFORM MONO is a prime example of how R&D and product management go hand-in-hand at SCHOTT Solar," says Stefan Hergott, head of product management at SCHOTT Solar AG. The company became the world's first manufacturer to produce a monocrystalline screen-printed solar cell in the industrial format of 156 x 156 mm that offers 20.2 percent efficiency. Thanks to the SCHOTT PERFORM MONO, this research breakthrough is now being put into practice.
