| Multi Development opens two Dutch inner-city retail projects Dutch retail space and shopping center developer Multi Development unveils this month two major new urban projects: the first expansion phase of downtown Nieuwegein, and the new town square (Stadsplein) of Spijkenisse. 1. Nieuwegein Nieuwegein will double its retail space over the next 2 years. With the opening of the first phase in September, approximately 20,000 m² of shops will be added. In 2013, when the second phase opens, the city will have a total of 56,000 m² retail space; one of the largest urban developments in the Netherlands. 2. Spijkenisse The town square (Stadsplein) in the center of Spijkenisse is being extended by 12,500 m² of shops, restaurants and apartments. The expansion of the parking also creates an important starting point for visiting the city. Simultaneously, the adjoining mall, The Kopspijker owned by Corio, is being completely renovated. Corio is also the owner of Stadsplein. Demand continues for quality sites Both projects are almost fully rented and will be welcoming a large number of stores that were not previously represented there.
