| FCC builds Media Centre for London 2012 Olympic Games Spanish builder FCC has commenced construction of the International Broadcasting Centre (IBC) for broadcasting the media during the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics games. With this project, FCC becomes the only Spanish company to build infrastructures to host the Olympic event in the British capital next year. In total, the organization of the London Olympics and Paralympics figure at more than 40,000 companies involved in the development, with a budget of 6 billion pounds (7 billion euro) for the Games infrastructure construction and supply contracts. FCC will design, build and maintain during the Games the International Broadcasting Centre (IBC), including interior design and finishings, and demolish the facility after the event. The Media Centre will be built by a team of at most 300 and construction will be completed by 30 April 2012, almost three months before the Games begin. The Centre, which will have a total floor area of 56,000 m2, will provide workspace for over 20,000 communications professionals from all over the world. The opening and closing ceremonies, scheduled for 27 July and 12 August, respectively, will be major media events.
