Hochtief subsidiary to deliver logistics center and rail line in Sydney

Via its Group company Leighton Contractors, the Hochtief subsidiary Leighton has secured two new contracts with a combined volume of approximately EUR 203.5 million. In the southwest of Australia's biggest city, the company is to build the Intermodal Logistics Centre (ILC) for EUR 88.3 million (AUD 115 million). In addition, Leighton Contractors was recently awarded the contract to construct a freight line in southern Sydney. The contract has a volume of EUR 115.2 million (AUD 150 million).

Located on a 60-hectare industrial site, the logistics center will be completed by early 2013. Leighton Contractors already carried out early works for the ILC, including among others a vehicular bridge and a frog habitat area. The Leighton subsidiary will start constructing the new 36-kilometer-long freight line in October. Running parallel to the existing rail link between the Macarthur and Sefton districts, the line will allow freight and passenger services to operate independently in this area from the end of 2012.
