| Cespa's plants generate electricity for 160,000 homes in Spain Cespa, a Ferrovial Servicios subsidiary, used its biogas plants to generate over 100,000 MWhe of electricity in 2010, equivalent to the annual consumption of around 160,000 homes in Spain. Through this effort, the company captured over 94 million Nm3 of biogas and used it to produce energy and heat, avoiding the emission of over 900,000 tons of CO2. Cespa currently has 6 bio-methanization plants with cogeneration systems, 23 degasification plants in controlled landfills and 13 energy-from-waste plants, some of which have been recognized for being highly innovative. The company is a pioneer in applying advanced degasification techniques and considers the harnessing of landfill biogas for energy a priority. Cespa, which provides municipal and environmental services in Spain, Portugal, the UK, and Andorra, serves 851 municipalities and close to 6 million people. In 2010, the company obtained revenue of 952 million euro and EBITDA of 161 million euro. write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Construction News :: home page |
