| Flatiron secures new contracts across western U.S. and Canada Flatiron, one of the US's largest transportation and infrastructure contractors, has been awarded more than $144 million in new contracts during the first half of 2011. In Canada, Flatiron was awarded a $40.5 million contract for work on the Highway 1 Donald Bridges and approaches in the Canadian Rockies near Golden, B.C. The project, commissioned by the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, is slated for completion in December 2012. In California, Flatiron was awarded a $38.9 million contract to replace the Riverside Drive Viaduct over the Los Angeles River. Flatiron secured 24 other contracts in California, 17 of which were awarded to the company's Electrical Group, totaling more than $39 million.
