Larger Certa-Set riser cap increases flow characteristics by 50%

With a new ¾-inch molded riser cap for its high-performance Certa-Set PVC Irrigation Pipe, CertainTeed is helping growers to increase distribution uniformity (DU) and water flow and reduce energy costs and irrigation time. The ¾-inch riser cap has 50 percent greater flow characteristics than Certa-Set's previous ½-inch riser cap. "Striving to make operations increasingly efficient for growers, the Certa-Set line draws on CertainTeed's rich tradition of performance-proven PVC pipe products," says Jeff Argus, marketing manager for CertainTeed's Pipe Group. "The new Certa-Set riser cap is an excellent addition to this tradition, as it permits more water flow and irrigates crops more quickly."

The ¾-inch riser cap also allows growers to use larger sprinklers and nozzles, which increases the pipe's overall DU. In addition, the decreased friction loss that comes with the larger riser cap results in lower energy costs for the grower. The high DU and lower energy use not only benefit the owner's bottom line, but the environment as well.

CertainTeed Certa-Set provides growers with a highly efficient, leak-free solution compared to traditional aluminum irrigation products. With its dual-gasket coupling system, Certa-Set saves money through higher uniform water distribution and the elimination of "water puddling" that is common with aluminum piping systems. Manufactured as an impact- and corrosion-resistant above-ground portable irrigation piping system, Certa-Set laterals and couplings are impervious to sunlight, electrolysis, chemicals and fertilizers. It is designed for easy use in agricultural irrigation, including row crop and turf grass applications, and works particularly well in drag, mechanical move and side-shift operations.
