| Carillion Energy Services nets prestigious award UK's leading support services company Carillion is celebrating after its energy services business won first place in a prestigious national award for promoting microgeneration technologies. The Microgeneration UK Awards were held in London this week, bringing together the industry's policymakers, investors, suppliers and customers. Carillion Energy Services (CES) won the Commercial Innovation Category for raising £300 million of debt and equity to finance up to 37,000 free solar PV installs for social housing tenants. CES completed the £300 million financing arrangement with funding partners Infrared Capital, Barclays Infrastructure funds, RBS, Lloyds Banking Group, National Australia Bank and Santander. The ground-breaking business model utilises the feed-in-tariff to raise the finance and provide a return for the investors. This allows CES to build an end-to-end delivery model for social housing providers to upgrade and de-carbonise parts of their housing stock while their residents can benefit from free electricity – all cost and risk free. Carillion Energy Services is currently working in partnership with seven social housing providers and in advanced negotiations with several more to install free solar panels for their tenants. Household fuel savings from more than 2,000 systems already fitted can be as high as 50%. A partnership between CES and solar provider HomeSun, which offers free PV systems to private households, also won second place in the same award category. write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Construction News :: home page |
