Henderson to launch UCITS IV Emerging Markets Currency fund

Henderson Global Investors is set to launch an Emerging Markets Currency fund in Q3 2011, subject to regulatory approval. Managed by head of currency Bob Arends and his team, the UCITS IV fund will allow investors' access to Henderson's proven systematic investment approach in emerging market currencies.

The Henderson Horizon Emerging Markets Currency (SICAV) fund complements the existing fund range comprising of the Henderson Global Currency fund Cayman structure, launched in May 2009 and the sophisticated UCITS IV Henderson Horizon Global Currency fund launched in July last year.

The five-strong Henderson currency team have been running an emerging market currency strategy for many years and the opportunity set includes an extensive range of currencies from Asia, Latin America, Africa and Central and Eastern Europe.

Since launch in January 2008 as part of the global strategy the emerging market strategy has had a compelling track record, returning 15.8% in 2008, 16.7% in 2009 and 8.3% in 2010 at an average volatility of 12%.
