Mott MacDonald wins contract in Namibia

British construction consultancy Mott MacDonald has been awarded a contract for the design, environmental and social impact assessment and construction supervision of eight Community Skills Development Centres across Namibia for the Millennium Challenge Account Namibia (MCA-N). Five existing centres will be upgraded and three will be new build.

The centres are being developed through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), which is a US Government initiative that works in partnership with the governments of a number of developing nations through agreements such as MCA-N. The centres are to be part of MCA-N's Education Project supporting Namibia's Education and Training Sector Improvement Programme. This programme aims to improve the competency and knowledge of young Namibians through new and innovative methods of learning.

Mott MacDonald will design the centres, conduct environmental and social impact assessments as well as supervise construction of the centres. Construction of the development centres is due to be completed late 2012.
