| Flatiron expands "Build-A-Bridge" program to Utah Flatiron, one of the US' largest transportation and infrastructure contractors, is providing the opportunity for local high school students interested in engineering to gain hands-on, real life engineering experience with the rollout of its Build-a-Bridge scholarship program in Utah. Flatiron will be awarding $10, 000 in college scholarships and a paid summer internship to students from American Fork and Pleasant Grove High Schools during an awards ceremony on May 11 at 4:00 p.m. at 195 East 600 South, 84003. We want to get them interested at an early age, and follow them through college, " says Tony Breinholt, Utah district chief estimator, Build-A-Bridge instructor and judge. "Getting involved also allows our employees the opportunity to serve in the community, to teach the youth, and take part in developing our future workforce, which in turn, provides our employees a new perspective they can take back and implement in their jobs." Build-A-Bridge Scholarship Program Details The Build-A-Bridge program offers engineering students the opportunity to visit Flatiron's local offices and construction sites, receive industry training, and compete for a college scholarship and paid internship. The students present projects to a panel of Flatiron judges, who select the winner(s) and present the awards. The program is geared for students in high school and college. Flatiron's first Build-A-Bridge scholarship was awarded to a student in California who interned with the company each summer throughout college and has since been brought on as a regular full-time employee.
