| Strabag acquires hydraulic engineering firm in Germany Vienna-based Strabag SE, Central and Eastern Europe's largest construction company, sees strong demand on the hydraulic engineering market in Europe. For this reason, the company has made significant investments in this business field over the past few years. With the acquisition of 100 % of the German civil hydraulic engineering firm Ludwig Voss, Cuxhaven, Strabag strengthens its position as German market leader in this future market. The previously family-owned SME, Ludwig Voss GmbH & Co. KG, is a specialised service provider in the field of civil hydraulic engineering operating mainly in Germany's seaports and along the coasts of the North and Baltic Seas. The company focuses its activities on the structural maintenance of port and coastal facilities and offers services for the offshore industry. The group generates average revenue of just over € 20 million a year. Strabag was already able to convince itself of the quality of Voss's services as the company worked together with the Strabag subsidiary Josef Möbius Bau-AG in a consortium for the JadeWeserPort in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. Strabag entered the business field of hydraulic engineering in 2007 with the acquisition of a 70 % stake in Josef Möbius Bau-AG plus a capital increase. Since the acquisition, the annual output volume has stood at about € 180 million. While the greatest amount is generated in Germany, Möbius handles projects worldwide, too – either alone or within the group with other Strabag companies. write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Construction News :: home page |
