Impregilo wins motorway tender in Romania

Italian construction giant Impregilo has won the engineering and construction tender for lot three of the Orastie-Sibiu motorway, awarded by the National Highways & Motorways Company of Romania (CNADNR).

The contract is worth approximately 144 million euro, with funding provided 85% by the European Community and the remaining 15% by the Romanian government.

Under the contract, Impregilo is to build a 22.1 kilometre stretch of motorway, with each carriageway having two lanes and a hard shoulder, for a total width of 26 metres.

Key civil works will include construction of an 80 m high viaduct for a length of approximately one kilometre.

The Orastie-Sibiu project is part of the larger "Motorway corridor no.4" project, linking the city of Nadlac on the Hungarian border with the city of Constanta on the western shore of the Black Sea.
