| Ductwork specialist Hargreaves becomes a lean manufacturer Ventilation ductwork specialist, Senior Hargreaves, has undergone a quiet revolution. The company has completed a major redevelopment of their Lord Street site, adding 28,000 square feet of new manufacturing space and invested in lean manufacturing technology, with other radical changes in the pipeline.“We have invested heavily in lean manufacturing, aided by leading consultants in the field, The Manufacturing Institute, ” explained managing director, Kevin White. “This has enabled us to consolidate our operations on a single site and streamline production to achieve higher efficiency. We are also re-engineering the company culture so that change and constant improvement become integral to our thinking.” Hargreaves is one of the oldest companies in Bury, but was one of the first North West companies to achieve the ISO14001 environmental standard. This requires continuously improving environmental performance, reducing waste streams, energy inputs and CO2 emissions.
