Arcadis, the international consultancy, design, engineering and management services company, announced that the company has been awarded a contract by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAFVAC) San Diego, California. Arcadis is one of only six parties that was awarded this Department of Defense contract of which the maximum shared value is $500 million in a five year timeframe. Arcadis was already awarded the first $0.4 million task order under the contract with which the work has commenced immediately.

Under the contract Arcadis will predominantly perform environmental tasks, including engineering and consulting work related to the cleanup of contaminated sites. Most of the work is to be executed in the Southwestern United States with the vast majority to be performed in California. A small portion of the projects is to be performed in Alaska and the Northwestern states. Arcadis has a longstanding relationship with the U.S. Department of Defense for environmental work and is already a party to several global and national framework contracts for the department.
