| Bilfinger Berger to build schools in Northern Ireland Bilfinger Berger, Germany's second-biggest construction company, has won an order for a public-private partnership project in Northern Ireland with an investment volume of more than €60 million. The Group will lead a consortium that will finance, design and build two school buildings and, upon completion, operate them for a period of 25 years. Bilfinger Berger Project Investments holds a 70-percent share in the project company and will make an equity investment of approximately €4 million. Implementation of the project under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) means that much needed educational infrastructure can be developed effectively and efficiently. Lagan College, an ageing and over-subscribed school with 1,200 students, will be modernized and expanded; Tor Bank school, a South Eastern Education and Library Board controlled special school located in Dundonald, where 160 students with severe learning disabilities are currently accommodated largely in a number of temporary classrooms, will be completely rebuilt. The education sector in the United Kingdom is an important market for Bilfinger Berger Project Investments. Investment volume in this sector totals more than €650 million.
