NYT columnist delivers address at AIA National Convention

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) announced that author and columnist Thomas Friedman will address the opening general session of the 2011 AIA National Convention and Design Exhibition on May 12th, and then deliver the keynote address later that day.

In his newest book, Hot, Flat, and Crowded, Friedman argues that a green revolution is the type of national security initiative America needs right now, calling it "the biggest single peacetime project humankind will have ever undertaken."

To address environmental crises and rising competition for energy, he argues that America must begin to lead a green revolution to save our global future. Freidman calls our age the "energy-climate era, " characterized by a growing demand for scarcer resources, a massive transfer of wealth to petro dictators, disruptive climate change, the reinforcement of social inequalities and an accelerating loss of bio-diversity.
