| Sustainability Oscar awarded to IVG for project in Munich At a gala event held in the Vulkan Halle in Cologne, IVG's development project "An den Brücken" in Munich was awarded the Sustainability Prize 2011 by the trade journal "Immobilienmakler". The following reasons were cited for the award of this prize: "IVG has developed the project "An den Brücken" on a railway complex, not far from Munich's central railway station, which had not been used for many years. IVG applied renewable and pioneering technologies in the construction of the building. Heating and cooling are powered by geothermal energy through building component activation, individually controlled through ceiling sails. User comfort is increased by temperature controls for each room, the use of low-emission materials as well as natural lighting and ventilation. The first section of the building received LEED Gold certification, while the second section earned LEED Platinum certification, which was granted for the first time in Germany. The property was contributed to IVG's Premium Green Fund, Germany's first specialised fund for sustainable properties." A system designed to monitor operating costs was installed early on before the completion of the building. This made it possible to make reliable predictions about future operating costs. This system has also helped IVG to achieve the greatest letting success in the Munich real estate market in the past three years, when nearly 22,000 square metres were let to FTI Touristik. write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Construction News :: home page |
