| Building Magazine praises Carnegie Pavilion The Carnegie Pavilion has been shortlisted for the Building Magazine Project of the Year award 2011. The prestigious Building Awards, held this year on Thursday 7 April in Park Lane, London, recognise the industry's top performers and encourages sustained performance and further development throughout the sector The Pavilion was designed by Alsop Sparch Architects with BAM Construction leading the development. Built in partnership with Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Yorkshire Forward, the 4,000 sqm multi-purpose building is a distinctive new feature of the Headingley skyline. It operates as a state-of-the art cricket pavilion and media centre during the summer and a teaching facility during the academic year. This collaboration has meant that a significantly smaller footprint was used- saving at least 30% of space to create two separate buildings.
